RE: Athletics Report

I’d like to close out the school year by recognizing the work of both Dr. Pearson and Mr. Lindsay.  Below are just a few of the additional responsibilities they took on this year.  

• Hired coaches and arranged preseason meetings with coaches, parents, and athletes 
• Assured that coaches and athletes adhered to relevant bylaws and regulations
• Worked with office staff and ensured that all athletes had completed the required paperwork and other requirements. Examples include verification of physicals and insurance
• Scheduled all competitions
• Ensured that officials were available for all home competitions
• Ensured that student supervision at home events was provided as required
• Worked with office staff, provided relevant awards banquets and other athlete recognition events, and assisted coaches in doing the same for their teams at the end of each season
• Worked with Woodland High School staff, ensuring that all athletes were academically eligible to compete and practice
• Responded to parent and staff concerns promptly
• Managed the budget and materials of the athletics department. 
• Other duties as assigned 

The countless hours they spent in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends at WHS should be recognized and publicly appreciated. I am deeply grateful to both for leaning into the work to ensure our student-athletes had a positive year of athletic programs.

I am also grateful to the board of directors for their support in the refilling of this position, as it is an unsustainable burden on our HS leadership. The position is presently posted to be filled going into the next school year.
