RE: Columbia Elementary Board Report
School Improvement Focus:
Our SIP focuses remain the same. Get kids to school and help them bridge any gap that they might have in their learning. Columbia is just about to start our end-of-year benchmarks. We know our kids have worked hard and should be very proud of all they have accomplished. As soon as the data is in, we will begin the work of dissecting it to find all of the strengths and areas of growth that will be needed for our focus of the 2024-2025 school year. As mentioned in an earlier board report, Columbia has been working hard to focus on the “bubble” kids. Those were the kids who are close to grade level, but could easily lose ground without extensive focus. Our progress monitoring data has shown promising results, and we are anxiously awaiting the results of their end-of-year assessments.
Columbia Recognition- Success Story:
Woodland Reads was an amazing success. Students read through the classic novel Charlotte’s Web. We are excited to have the culminating family night of watching the movie on the 29th of May.
We are also wrapping up the Principal’s Reading Club. This year, 147 students participated in the challenge, equating to 23,050 books or 576,250 pages, with still a couple more weeks to go. We cannot wait to see what we can do with the challenge next year!
Our SBA rollout this year has also gone smoothly. We are really proud of the hard work our students have put into this assessment. When we are all done, it will be fun to celebrate their accomplishments.
