RE: North Fork Elementary School Update

  • May 6th - 10th was our staff appreciation week throughout the district. It is always an honor to celebrate our amazing teachers and paraeducators. Our PTSA brought in lunch for our staff of over 65 people. Breakfast was served another morning, and our WEA spoiled all of our members with a goodie bag. Each staff member was gifted a North Fork t-shirt with our theme “Better Together”. Students got in on the fun by bringing their teachers flowers, gifts, and coffee. It was a great week. (No gifts were purchased out of school district funds.)
  • We are in our second week of SBA state testing for our 3rd and 4th graders. Teachers have done an excellent job of preparing students through explicit instruction of the standards and academic language necessary for success. We are hopeful that the test results will reflect student growth.
  • Last week was our residency with the Missoula Theatre Company. They arrived on Monday and conducted auditions. 58 students participated and practiced during the week until 7:00 pm. There were two performances of the play, “Treasure Island,” on Friday and Saturday, with over 500 in attendance.  The high temperatures made for some very hot actors, but they powered through and did an amazing job. It was so rewarding to see their confidence grow as their performance improved. It was a great experience. The directors also did an all-school assembly on how to write a play and perform it. The entire program was funded through our PTSA building funds and ticket sales.
  • We have two new upcoming events at North Fork for the end of the school year: a spelling bee for our 3rd and 4th graders and a talent show. These culminating events will be an exciting way to end the school year.
