RE: Woodland Middle School Board Report
Quarter 3 Reflections & Quarter 4 Outlook
As we wrap up Quarter 3 and head into the final stretch of the school year, Woodland Middle School is buzzing with energy, preparation, and anticipation for what lies ahead.
We are currently in the heart of hiring season, actively seeking passionate and talented individuals to join our team. This includes key positions such as Assistant Principal, School Counselor, and several certificated teaching roles. It's an exciting time for our school community as we envision the possibilities for next year and the continued growth of our staff and programs.
One of our major initiatives underway is the rollout of the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program for our 7th and 8th grade students beginning next school year. We are excited to bring this proven college- and career-readiness system to our students, building on our commitment to academic rigor and equitable access to success.
As we approach Quarter 4, we are also preparing our students for the upcoming Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) in English Language Arts and Math. Our staff is working intentionally to provide targeted support and practice opportunities to help every student feel confident and prepared for this important measure of learning.
We’re also beginning to shift our focus toward welcoming our incoming 5th graders, as current 4th graders prepare to transition to middle school. Planning is underway to ensure a smooth and exciting orientation process. At the same time, we are looking forward to a series of end-of-year celebrations, including our 8th grade Moving Up Assembly, Field Day, the 8th Grade Trip, and other grade-level activities that recognize students' growth and create lasting memories.
Finally, we are proud to share that we have officially launched our new Digital Hall Pass system, “Securly Pass,” following Spring Break. This system has already begun streamlining hallway transitions and supporting student accountability. The early rollout allows us time to refine our practices and build familiarity before full implementation in the 2025–2026 school year.
We are proud of the continued growth, collaboration, and innovation taking place at Woodland Middle School and are grateful for the School Board's continued support as we close out the year strong and look ahead with optimism.
