Woodland School District’s Transitional Bilingual Instruction Program (TBIP) is mandated and guided by state and federal laws. As of March 2025, our TBIP program provides support for 245 multilingual students, 220 of whom are active in the ML program and 25 students who have passed the English Language Proficiency test but are supported for an additional two years by the ML program.
Multilingual Learners (MLs) need strong support to develop critical academic skills and to reach the same levels as their peers in English Language Arts (ELA), mathematics, and all content areas. To close these gaps, WSD focuses on supporting multilingual learners and their families at every level through an asset based mindset. Our goal is to accurately assess, effectively teach and equitably support these students:
