MSP testing has been completed, student placement for next year is being worked on, and annual staff evaluations are winding down as we enter June. The next couple of weeks zoom by as we engage in wrapping up for the school year - all the while, we attempt to stay true to our guiding precept of "Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing" (which simply put, means making sure we waste no days of reading/math instruction as much as possible).
We do have several groups of classes taking field trips to destinations such as OMSI, the Portland Zoo, and Franz Bakery. Earlier this spring, all KG classes ventured on walking tours of the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens. Also, WIS is gracious enough to host our outgoing third graders for a brief visit and orientation!
A visitation by Jan Kennell of the ESD has been completed. As a result, many of our playground staff participated in a 3 hour Playground Conference on May 26th along with WIS playground staff. We continue to work toward better understanding and proactive responses to student needs regarding bullying/harassment throughout our school.
Much to do, busy time of year!
