SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Mr. Green said that the Auditor's exit conference is in the District Meeting Room at 8:30am Wednesday morning. The Senate budget had not been released this morning. When it is released the District will have a flavor of what might happen with the budget. Last Friday, the Board received information about the Governor's budget adjustments. There is much levy lid talk among the legislators. Stacy said she received an email that said the House budget will be released tomorrow and the Senate budget later this week. Stacy said that there are some potential bills that could cost the District more money. One is a leave share bill that would allow people outside the District to share their leave with employees in the District. She said this would be a paperwork nightmare. Michael said that there is also an anti-discrimination bill that could also cost the District because it changes the avenue of recourse on claims. Our insurance companies are worried that it will make it a lot easier to file discrimination claims.
Wednesday will be the first Budget Advisory Team (BAT) meeting. Jim Bays asked Mr. Green, what assumptions he will use to begin the BAT process. Michael said that he will use the Governor's original budget that cut $922,000 from the budget. The Team will look at the House numbers when we receive those. Stacy is planning on decreased revenues for the coming year by $340,000 due to declining enrollment. The Board discussed declining enrollment and how it affects the sports category the District is in.
