CALL TO ORDER
President Watts called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m.
CITIZENS REQUEST TO ADDRESS THE BOARD ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS
In-Person: Whitney Raab addressed the school board on Critical Race Theory and expressed concerns about it being added to the curriculum at 91porn. She also expressed concerns about mask guidelines in the schools and asked the board to push back on things that don’t make sense.
Remotely: Trish Huddleston addressed the school board on masks and vaccinations and expressed her concern about having either of them in the schools.

Director Wray moved to approve the absence of Director Stuart.

The board took a few moments to introduce and welcome the new student representative, Brooklynn Donald.

WORKSHOP
School Finance and Budgeting 101
Stacy Brown presented to the school board a detailed overview of the organization and financing of schools. The purpose of the presentation was to provide directors with a deeper understanding of the various types of funds; the sources and uses of funds in the school district; how public schools must operate within the constraints of the laws passed by US Congress, and the WA State Legislature (RCW); and rules and regulations (WAC) set by the Department of Education, OSPI , State Board of Education (SBE) and Professional Education Standards Board (PESB).
The board of directors asked clarifying questions.
CONSENT AGENDA
Director Guthrie moved to approve the consent agenda as presented.
ACTION ITEM
Hope Squad
Asha Riley and Denise Pearl presented Hope Squad, a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program that reduces youth suicide through education, training, and peer intervention. Director Graham, Brooklynn Donald, and community member Whitney Raab asked clarifying questions.
Director Wray moved to approve the implementation of Hope Squad.
